2014 Vintage Mystery Challenge

Vintage Mystery 2014The amazing Bev Hankins is spoiling us mystery addicts again with details of her 2014 Reading Challenge (and no, I haven’t finished this year’s yet). For 2014 Bev has introduced not one but two innovations. To know more, come this way …

First we have a new “Silver Age” category. The “Golden Age” remains for books published pre 1960 (short story collections can be published later but all the actual stories themselves need to be from that original era) while to be eligible, “Silver Age” books are those first published between 1960 to 1989 (inclusive).

The other new wrinkle she had introduced is a bingo-style theme (or ‘tombola’ as we call it back home). To score a Bingo you have to submit reviews under the categories (see the box below) and fill in six of the squares in a row either vertically, horizontally or diagonally – for the full list of rules, and details on how to sign up, visit Bev at her blog, My Reader’s Block.

The Challenge runs from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014 and you can sign up any time between now and 30 November this year. I can hardly wait to get cracking on this complex conundrum – thanks Bev.

You did it. I am so glad. You always pick really unusual books and authors and educate me.

I’ve seen some other bloggers participating in this. It will be interesting to see everyone’s choices.

  5. Sergio, I’m waiting to see what you come up with in the silver age category, a fascinating period for fiction.
